It still might be the most familiar symbol of Dubai, but Burj (which translates as tower) Khalifa has grabbed attention lately as the tallest freestanding structure in the world, weighing in 828 metres with the world’s first Armani Hotel and a killer viewing platform on the 124th floor that includes high-tech viewing equipment to get a close-up of buildings miles away; something the CN Tower might want to try.

At 828 meters (2,717 feet), the Burj Khalifa in Dubai has the famous distinction (or infamous distinction if you’re an acrophobiac) of being the tallest building in the world, and EHG looks to capitalize. The new restaurant, called “Atmosphere”, will be on the 122-nd floor of the Burj Khalifa, which is already home to the first Armani Hotel – the hotel chain built in corporation with Italian fashion machine Armani.

You've heard of Dubai's record breaking Burj Khalifa, the tallest free-standing structure in the world at 828 metres tall. Well, it appears Dubai is about to shatter the record book's tallest category once again. Hard Rock Café says it is building the world's tallest guitar at 118 feet (approximately 36 metres) high to mark the café's re-opening at its new location in Dubai Festival City (DFC) this coming October.

Dubai's landscape features beautiful natural beaches and deserts, as well as some of the most impressive man-made attractions and mega projects like Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, the Burj Al Arab hotel, the world's only seven star hotel, and Meydan the largest horse racing track in the world.

The list of those buildings that have been ranked as the tallest in the world gained a new number one on Monday this week with the official opening of the Burj Dubai, now renamed the Burj Khalifa in honour of the current president of the UAE. Five years and £2.5bn in the constructing, this 828-metre (2,717ft) skyscraper supersedes its predecessor – the Taipei 101 tower in Taiwan – by an astonishing 309 metres.
