In the lead up to the hour of darkness, more than 1,000 votive candles showing “Earth 60+ Dubai 2013” lit up the Burj Plaza floor. Splashy and Sparky, cartoonesque mascots, regaled the hundreds of children present at the event with their families.

Emaar Properties, the global property developer, will mark Earth Hour 2013 on March 23, with its developments taking part in the global initiative to raise awareness on energy conservation and climate change.

This never-seen-before spectacle created especially for Emaar and The Centre of Now by a world class team of professionals and creatives. It is a multimedia extravaganza including a 210 metre long seamless projection screen along with 10 water platforms with semi-transparent screens and in total 79 live performers from around the world.

The Ara Gallery and At the Top, Burj Khalifa have announced “Art At the Top,” a competition giving one artist the chance to have his or her artwork displayed on a featured wall in At the Top, Burj Khalifa. The competition began on Monday with a call to Emirati artists around the UAE to submit their portfolios. The deadline for portfolio submission is on July 15.

Michael Jackson’s hit song ‘Thriller’ can get anyone on their toes and move the shoulders. Set against the iconic backdrop of Burj Khalifa, a few thousand dancers grooved to the song at the first-ever dance extravaganza at Downtown Dubai on Friday. From zombie walks to well coordinated dance moves, the event saw high-energy action from every single participant.
