DUBAI // Metro commuters travelling on Emirates Airline flights can now check in 24 hours in advance at kiosks in three stations as the carrier extends services available at Dubai International Airport.

Kiosks have been installed at the Mall of the Emirates, Burj Khalifa and Financial Centre stations. The self-service devices are expected to provide an added convenience and to reduce waiting time at the airport, Emirates officials said. Passengers will need their reservation code or ticket number to use the service, which will be available until two hours before departure.

“Self-service check-in kiosks at some of Dubai’s Metro stations are an innovation that will allow Emirates customers the convenience to access their boarding pass before they get to the airport,” said Mohammed Mattar, the Emirates divisional senior vice president of airport services.

Passengers travelling with only hand luggage will be able to proceed directly to immigration after using the devices. Once passengers reach Terminal 3 they can check their regular luggage at baggage drop counters.

As per Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) regulations, Metro riders can carry a maximum two pieces of luggage each. The larger cannot exceed 81cm in width, 58cm in height and 30cm in depth. The smaller should not be more than 55cm wide, 38cm high and 20cm deep.

The kiosks in the Metro stations are located near the machines at which commuters swipe their access cards. They are identical to those currently used at the Emirates terminal.
