An Emaar spokesperson told XPRESS on Wednesday: “Based on industry trends and visitor insights, tickets to At the Top, Burj Khalifa, will now be available for Dh150 per adult and Dh120 per child during the peak hours from 3 to 7pm.”

Saudi Arabia's Kingdom Holding Co has approved a plan to build the world's tallest building, the Saudi Gazette reported. The 275-floor Kingdom Tower will be 1.6km tall, twice the height of Dubai's Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest skyscraper.

"They want to get into the big boys' playground," said James Fortune, an elevator consultant who has advised architects on some of the world's tallest buildings, including the current record holder, Dubai's Burj Khalifa.

While thousands braved traffic and crowds to catch a glimpse of the opening ceremony of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, Karim Al Bassatne simply walked to the balcony of his three-and-a-half-bedroom apartment in Burj Residences to witness history in the making. He even invited some friends over, giving them all a moment to remember for the rest of their lives.

Burj Khalifa, which has experienced several lightning strikes, boasts one of the most advanced lightning prevention systems in the world, said Param Singh, regional marketing manager at Manav Enterprises, the company which installed the lightning protection system in the tower.
