MACAU: More Than Just the New Las Vegas

With its numerous casinos, resorts, and showy leisure establishments, Macau has gained for itself the monicker “New Las Vegas” and has since been remembered, more than anything else, for this name. Among the famous international hotel chains looking in its direction are MGM Grand, Wynn Hotel and Casino, Four Seasons, and the Venetian to name a few. A trip to Macau is best remembered for the city’s vibrance and the spectacular lights of its imposing, multi-million casinos.

Dubai may be the preserve of the rich or the playboy or the paid-for, because if you want to live like a King or Sheikh here, you can. The sky is literally the limit and you can even see that, the world's tallest building The Burj Khalifa, which towers over the Seawings seaplane piloted by Captain Per Korsvold flying at 1,500 ft and which takes off out of the Jebel Ali marina. But you get what you pay for and Dubai doesn't do second-rate.

The second hotel, located in Milan, is still on schedule to open in mid-2011. The first Giorgio Armani-designed hotel opened in the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai last April and Dardenne said he was pleased with the reception it had received. “These hotels you build them up over the years. I think, eventually, some people will come to Dubai just to stay at the hotel. It is bringing something new to Dubai and that has been very positive,” he added.

UAE wins big at travel ‘Oscars’

Dubai and Abu Dhabi led the winners at last night’s World Travel Awards 2011 Middle East Ceremony held at the Armani Hotel Dubai. Abu Dhabi’s continuing rise to tourism stardom was rewarded, too, as it took home a host of top honors, including Middle East’s Leading Tourist Board and Middle East’s Responsible Tourism Award.

World’s tallest hotel to open in Dec

The world’s tallest hotel, JW Marriott Marquis, is expected to open its doors to guests in December this year. Dubai is home to the world’s top three tallest structures — the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa; the world’s tallest residential building, Princes Tower; and, soon, the world’s tallest hotel, JW Marriott Marquis.
