Reports that Tom Cruise is planning to have an early viewing of the film in the city that hosted much of the filming – right here in Dubai – are false, say film distributors in the UAE.

Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol isn’t scheduled for release until mid-December, but the internet is abuzz with rumours that Cruise is set to visit Dubai on Tuesday to watch a preview of the film at the Imax cinema in Ibn Battuta Mall.

When contacted by Gulf News on Monday, a spokesperson for Gulf Film, which is handling the release of the film in the UAE and also worked closely on the filming, denied the reports of Cruise’s visit.

The spokesperson added that no screening of the fourth instalment of the spy series was planned for this week.

The film was shot in Dubai last year and featured Cruise performing his own stunts on the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

It’s expected to premiere at this Decemeber’s Dubai International Film Festival, and Cruise is also expected to visit India during the film’s promotional tour.
