Drs. Nicolas and Asp will work with KidZania at The Dubai Mall on its hospital Emergency Room experience for children. As part of the ER sponsorship, the family medical and dental practice will help shape the activity programme designed to educate young people in the essential field of safety and risk, as well as rescue, life support and response techniques.

For children of age six to sixteen, the ER is equipped with a host of medical related props including a Drs. Nicolas & Asp ambulance, paramedic uniforms, stretcher, oxygen tank and make up to simulate injuries. Visitors to the ER play the role of both the paramedics and the patient, all overseen by two KidZania Zoopervisors to facilitate the activities.

As paramedics, the children learn about medical utensils and emergency procedures from the point of ambulance collection to hospital diagnosis.

The different paramedic cases that children will be familiarised with include cardiac arrest, concussion, fainting, indigestion, smoke inhalation and a construction accident.

Dr. Elhami Nicolas, CEO, Drs. Nicolas & Asp, said:

“Today’s children are tomorrow’s future and as a leading healthcare provider we are proud to play a role in promoting child safety and wellbeing. As highlighted at the recent Arab Children Health Congress, unintentional injuries are a major cause of deaths amongst children and young people under the age of 18 years; we have a responsibility to reduce these numbers by driving change through education. The KidZania concept is a fantastic way of educating children on basic medical skills in a fun environment.”

Road traffic injuries alone are the leading cause of death among 15-19 year olds and the second leading cause among 10-14 year olds. In addition to the deaths; tens of millions of children required hospital care for non-fatal injuries. The ER room seeks to strengthen awareness among children on the need for caution and the emergency procedures that may be adopted for first aid care.

Will Edwards, Governor, KidZania said, “The Drs. Nicolas & Asp Emergency Hospital Room is a value addition to the children’s edutainment centre, as it offers our young visitors the opportunity to learn about medical and dental practice. The programmes play out different paramedic cases and require the use of props – which are both educational and fun. The educational value offered by the ER in KidZania, developed by Emaar Retail, will also have far-reaching benefits for children, as they become more familiar about first aid practices and good health.”

KidZania blends fun with learning and has gained global appeal since its launch in Mexico in 1999. Today the world has seven KidZania franchises including one in Dubai. KidZania has been brought to the Middle East region and Indian Subcontinent by Emaar Retail, the entertainment and retail subsidiary of Emaar Malls Group.

Established in 1991, Drs. Nicolas & Asp has gathered a reputation as a leading family dental and medical practitioner with six branches across Dubai.
