Dubai Municipality concluded recently the Environmental Education Course 2010, which was attended by 30 children of Municipality employees and their relatives. The course was held this year under the slogan “Invest your summer vacation in environmental culture” from 27 June to 8 July.

The concluding ceremony, attended by a number of officials and programme providers, saw honouring the participants. The Environmental Education Course is one of the programmes launched by the Environment and Health Awareness Office to educate and develop environmental awareness among children of Municipality employees.

Eng. Hamdan Khalifa Al Shaer, Director of Environment Department of Dubai Municipality honoured the children who participated in the course and thanked them for their participation.

He hoped that the course had achieved its target of creating environmental awareness among young people and introduced them to contemporary environmental and health issues, and instilled the spirit of volunteer work in them.

Al Shaer pointed out that the programme helped them to make use of their free time during the summer vacation with useful and enjoyable programmes, and also in promoting and developing the office services to different categories of customers.

The programme of the course included environmental and health education lectures in an interesting educational form, various environmental and health workshops, visits and trips to different environmental sites, and a variety of competitions.

Al Shaer praised the efforts of the corporate sponsors and their support for the course that have effectively contributed to its success and effectiveness, and these supporters included Burj Khalifa, Dubai Aquarium, Kidzania, Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Roads and Transport Authority, and Modern Bakery, Al Rawabi Milk, Ajman Radio, Al Shabab Club, Ministry of Environment and Water, Technology Institute, Dubai Sports Council, Landex General Trading and Sealoflex Water Proofing Systems, and The Palace, Old Town Hotel.
