Accor has opened its third Sofitel hotel in Dubai today, located in the shadow of Burj Khalifa, and close to Dubai Mall and the city’s financial district.

Visitors can travel to what is known as "At the Top" which isn't really at the top but more like level 124. For those in a hurry, and who want to travel immediately, you'll have to donate $133 to maintaining the building's upkeep. If you can wait for a specifically dated and timed access, it will only cost $34, with virtually no discount for kids. Atmosphere Restaurant on the 122nd floor could be a better option as you can enjoy a meal with the view.

Dubai’s new super-scraper boasts some of the highest interior specs in the industry. David Ingham and Claire Ferris-Lay talk to those responsible for rolling them out. The specification on the Burj Khalifa project is one of the highest that industry veteran, Talal Saeed, managing director of Fino International, has ever encountered. “The specification is one of the highest I’ve ever seen and experienced. There were so many consultants supervising and reporting to each other to make sure everything works perfectly.”

As we approached the tower, we were stopped at the entrance where a guard verified our details, the car plate number and allowed us access. The valet – a service offered complementary to all residents and guests – then takes over. As we walk through the huge, impressive lobby, marked by a unique drum-cymbal decor, we get past the glass doors, which can be opened only with an access card, and take the lift to the 76nd floor. There one has to change lifts to go higher.

Emaar Hospitality Group (EHG) has announced plans to open the “highest restaurant” in the world in January 2011. The restaurant will be called Atmosphere and will be located on the 122nd floor of Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world and also home to the first ever Armani Hotel. EHG chief executive officer Marc Dardenne told HotelierMiddleEast.com that the outlet had the “bragging rights of being the highest restaurant in the world”.

These hospitality enterprises have proved to be successful and are multiplying. Missoni, for example, opened their Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh in 2008, it is now opening another Hotel in Kuwait on March of this year, and plans to open another two in Oman and Brazil by 2012. Armani opened in 2010 the Armani Hotel Dubai and coming soon are the Armani Hotels in Milan, Marrakech, Marassi, London, New York, Shanghai, and Tokyo.
