Sky City One in China: 104 elevators, living space for 174,000

Broad Group, a construction company in China, has announced it will built the world’s tallest skyscraper in just 90 days. Plus, says Broad Group, its building will be much cheaper to build than the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) which is currently the world’s tallest manmade structure at 830 meters (2,723 feet).

Mile-high Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia will be world’s tallest building

Construction of the Kingdom Tower in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah is expected to cost £12billion and will comprise 275 floors, making it twice as high as the current tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Hotels, offices, luxury apartments and a shopping centre will all feature in the giant structure, which is to be financed by the Saudi royal family-owned Kingdom Holding Company.

Built at a cost of $1.5 billion, the final height of Burj Khalifa (former known as Burj Dubai) that was only announced at the official opening, is a mind boggling 828m (2,716 ft).

At 828 metres in height, the Burj Khalifa has been officially recognized as the world’s tallest building. In an unsurprising announcement, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) bestowed the ‘tallest’ title after checking detailed documents provided by the building’s developer Emaar.

The politically-charged project has experienced waves of delays and price increases in the decade since the September 11th attacks, almost doubling from its original estimate of $2 billion. Even at these more modest numbers, however, the tower would still have dwarfed other global projects, including the Burj Khalifa - the world’s tallest tower - at a mere $1.5 billion.
