The Times of India reported on Wednesday that the consortium signed an agreement with the Gujarat government for “engineering, design and contract management” to construct the 182-metre-high Statue of Unity of Sardar Patel.

Other partners in the consortium, apart from Turner, include US-based Michael Graves and Associates and Mindheart from Germany.

The Statue of Unity will cost Rs25 billion (Dh1.6 billion) and it will be built under the supervision of the consortium, which will charge Rs560 million for the job.

The statue will be 54 metres higher than the Spring Temple Buddha statue in China, the current record holder.

During the first year and three months, the consortium will prepare master plan of the project and finalise contract bid documents. More info
